GEOLOGICAL VOCABULARY
Diamond Drilling: Diamond drilling is used in the mineral exploration and mining industry to probe the mineral contents of known ore deposits and potential sites for discovering them.
Geology: Geology is an earth science concerned with the solid Earth, the rocks of which it is composed, and the processes by which they change over time.
Geophysics: Geophysics is a subject of natural science concerned with the physical processes and physical properties of the Earth and its surrounding space environment, and the use of quantitative methods for their analysis.
Gossan: Gossan is intensely oxidized, weathered or decomposed rock, usually the upper and exposed part of an ore deposit or mineral vein. In the classic gossan or iron cap all that remains is iron oxides and quartz, often in the form of boxworks.
Fault System: In geology, a fault is a planar fracture or discontinuity in a volume of rock, across which there has been significant displacement as a result of rock-mass movement.
